The "Right" Way to Walk

South Korea has officially changed its policy on walking. It used to be that people would walk on the left, even though driving is on the right. However, I showed up at school to find this poster all over the school:

The policy has changed, and now everyone is instructed to keep to the right side when walking. And just look how happy everyone is; how green the grass is on this side of the path! Although I've been walking on the right since I got here without much trouble, so it's mostly a formality I think.

Along with the sign, students were given the task of changing all the arrows on the stairs, and to help everyone adjust, 6th grade hall monitors with sashes now direct traffic on each floor in the morning in case of any confusion.

  1. The arrows in my school were always on the right. I think it was a nation divided before the official announcement today.

I wonder how the lefties feel.

  2. I think someone needs to post these fliers on Western's campus. I am really tired of squeezing around giant groups of people *cou-freshmen-gh* who feel the need to block the ENTIRE sidewalk on the way to the building I need to enter when I am late. Seriously, the South Koreans have it right. ;)

  3. Hahaha, and to think that they are adopting this as a result of Western influence...

  4. LOL!!! I love it! I wish they'd do that here in the Malls. Make it offcial. Or even the sidewalks near bus stops. MOVE OUTTA M'WAY! THey should also have a loitering section for those who want to stand there and stare..at nothing. That way the people who have places to go or need to get ON the bus aren't inconvenienced.

    *steps off her soapbox*
